A common myth is that solar needs blazing sun. Photovoltaic panels convert daylight — including the bright, diffuse light of an overcast BC sky — and they’re actually more efficient in cool temperatures than in extreme heat. Our long summer days do a lot of heavy lifting: June and July give you far more usable daylight than a Prairie winter ever will.

The honest part: winters are lean

We won’t pretend otherwise — December and January produce a fraction of what July does. That seasonal swing is exactly why coastal systems are designed differently:

  • Right‑sized, not oversized. We design to your annual usage and self‑consumption, so summer surplus offsets leaner months.
  • Paired with storage. A battery smooths daily production and adds the winter‑outage backup that matters most here.
